Builder's Blog Update - week 9

By Murray Kneale

Trusses

Once again the builders have made good progress over the last week and whilst we haven’t quite achieved what we had hoped to get done by now, we are not too far off.

The fascia and guttering has been installed and looks great and the ply substrate has been installed and the butynol waterproof membrane to the flat roof areas is now being layed.

This will be completed on Friday afternoon and the colour steel roofing has now been shuffled back until Monday/Tuesday for installation. (This is a great industry for ‘shuffling’!!)

The progress planned for next week is now up in the air as we have been advised there is a four day delay with delivery of the aluminium windows and doors due to the late arrival of the glass.

While this is not the end of the world to the overall project, it does undo all the good work done by the builders with keeping the job chipping along and means further phone calls to the subtrades waiting in the wings (i.e. plumber, electrician, gas fitter, security, DVS etc) to reshuffle the dates required for them.

Overall a bloody nuisance and Chris has definitely been removed from the Xmas card list!

So, progress for the next week should be roof completed, windows installed, (maybe!!) soffiets completed and house ready for subtrades to pre-wire and pre-pipe their respective services.
