Builder's Blog Update - week 8

By Murray Kneale

Timber Frames

Progress on the ASB Home has been good this week with the framing inspection completed by Franklin District Council, and passed (phew!), and the final work to the home ready for the roof and fascia to be completed by Friday or Monday. So the home is really starting to take shape.

As with all the best layed plans, the roof as shown on the plans didn’t quite work on site! So, this is where the knowledge and foresight of experienced builders such as Paul and Steve Davies is of huge benefit to any building project. Their ability to think through any potential problems or areas that may give concern at a later date and address them there and then to ensure a practical 100% watertight building is achieved. A great asset for any company and building project.

So, with the framing complete, the fascia and guttering along with the butynol waterproof membrane, which goes over the low pitch roofing to garage and centre section, are scheduled to be installed in the next week. Getting that much closer to having a roof over our heads!

All the window openings have been check measured by Summit Aluminum and are now being manufactured to ensure they are available when required. The roof is booked for a site measure on Monday with the aim being to start laying the colour steel long run later next week.

Overall, the house is now progressing well and within our estimated time plan.
